The series is called Legacy of the Aces, and the four main characters are called Aces. There's Emmett, the Ace of Diamonds, Ayril the Ace of Spades, Jaime, the Ace of Hearts and Lyra, the Ace of Clovers.
When they were born, a dark shadow crept upon their home world so their parents had to hide them in the human world. Each of these Aces belong to a different kingdom. The Hearts are red (Jaime's color scheme is red), the Diamonds are blue (Emmett's color scheme is blue), the Clovers are green (Lyra's color scheme is green), and the Spades are purple (Ayril's color scheme is purple).
Instead of the traditional red/black color scheme for cards, there's actually FOUR colors; Red, Purple, Blue, and Green. One Ace for each color plus one King, Queen, Jack, and Joker for each color. There's also the colored guards called the Atuulian Lance which have numbers pertaining to their rank. (2 is actually the highest since there can only be one Ace and they have a different job.) So there can be more than one number, but ONLY the numbers can have more than one. (For example, a guard from the Spades kingdom would have a purple colored emblem on his/her/their uniform plus the card number 4. And there can be several people with the number 4.)
Also, anyone who can use magic are called Magic Users. Every time an Ace is born they are ALWAYS a Magic User. Always. HOWEVER, they also have a different set of magic abilities called 'Card Magic', which is a more powerful magic that uses, you guessed it, CARDS! Aces are very powerful titles, each born to help protect their designated kingdom, as well as working together to protect them kingdoms as a whole. To further up on that regard, the Aces are each blessed with a unique 'ability' once they are born. Ayril (Ace of Spades) has the unique ability to heal wounds on ANYONE, except herself. She's the only one in the world who can do that. Which is why this 'shadow' came after her and the other Aces. But since their parents brought them to the Earth world, they were safe. In the Earth world, a disguise called a "glamour" makes them appear human. Well they were already human-looking but they would have natural hair colors, eye colors, no animal ears, horns, ect. In the card world, the glamour fades.
There's four different colored Kingdoms; the Hearts Kingdom is red, the Diamonds Kingdom is blue, the Clovers Kingdom is green, and finally the Spade Kingdom is purple. In the Hearts Kingdom, angels and celestial beings live there. Some have feathery wings, while some have halos, or both. It's also possible for them to have neither. In the Diamonds Kingdom, that's where the 'animal folk' live; some have ears and tails, some have no ears but tails, some have ears but no tails, and there's bird folk where they can also have wings (but much smaller) and lizard folk with long tails. The Clover Kingdom rules over faeries, elves, sprites, pixies, mermaids, those kinds of magical creatures. And finally the Spade Kingdom oversees Demons, Devils, Incubi, Succubi, ect.
Most of the people that live in each kingdom have the color scheme of that kingdom. So for example Emmett, who is the Ace of Diamonds, comes from the Diamond Kingdom. His animal breed is wolf, and has ears and a tail. His hair, ears, and tail are a pretty blue, to match the Kingdom colors.
Here's the criteria of their colors:
The Heart Kingdom can have colors variations of: Red, Pink, Orange, and Yellow
The Diamond Kingdom can have color variations of: Blue, light and dark shades of blue, blue/green, and blue/red
The Clover Kingdom can have color variations of: Green, light and dark shades of green, green/blue, and green/yellow
The Spade Kingdom can have color variations of: Purple, light and dark shades of purple, purple/red, and purple/blue

{F.A.Q.}
Q: Do the characters wear other colors other than their kingdom colors?
A: Absolutely! They have as many colors as they want, but remember that the primary color is ALWAYS be that of their represented kingdom!
Q: What exactly is a Bleak?
A: Someone who is Bleak is very hard to understand. Their colors have completely faded, the only spot of color is the dullness of their eyes, which
identifies which kingdom they came from. If someone is a Bleak, it means that they committed a 'Taboo'. When three people figure out that person committed a
Taboo, that's when they transform into a Bleak. The transformation varies depending on the person. It can be quick and painless, or slow and painful, or anything in between.
It's different for everyone. However, those who turn into Bleak tend to lose their sanity, and turn against the kingdoms.
Q: So the Deities created that world? How does it connect to Earth?
A: Honestly I can't say much regarding to this because of spoilers, but I will tell you this. Yes, the Deities created the world of Atuul, which is where the four kingdoms rule. The Deities are very important to the story, it's very crucial to pay attention to the information given about them.
