The crew hadn't expected the storm.
It wasn't until the winds picked up and the skies grew dark that the captain realized they should turn around. But alas, too little, too late.
The storm took the ship by force, the crew battered and beaten by howling winds and freezing rain. The ocean, why, she was livid. She threw wave after wave at the creaking wooden ship the pirates called home. Desperately the crew members sprinted around, tying cannons down, mopping water off the decks; trying with every last breath to keep the ship afloat and strong. But their efforts fell short, and it wasn't long before the dreadful sound of the ship hitting solid rock rang through the air.
The sinking of the ship was quick. Nobody had time to get the lifeboats down. Everyone was underwater before they knew it, the suction of the ship sinking pulling them down. It was hopeless.
But the next morning, one pirate woke up on a grassy bank. And then another, and another. And much to each of their own surprise, many of them had survived the storm and the ship sinking, only to awake on the grassy banks of a beautiful island, covered in wildflowers, sunny with no clouds in the sky, and with a gentle breeze blowing by.
But little did the pirates know what the island had in store for them.

Since most, if not all of us are in the Skype chat, we can discuss what will happen throughout the role-play as it progresses and brainstorm on ideas for conflicts and things.
